Abstract: The K-Cube (Knowledge Cube) project aims to build an immersive virtual reality (VR) knowledge graph platform for visualizing and guiding both students and instructors through the computer science curriculum taught in the Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The main objective of the project is to provide mind maps that align the course content, scheduling alternatives, and career-aware advising in an immersive AI-assisted edu-metaverse environment. The K-Cube project uses immersive CAVE-VR technology supplemented by generative AI to better understand, manipulate, organize, and visualize abstract concepts and relationships in the teaching and learning activities using knowledge graphs and mind maps. The ultimate goal of the project is to help university students explore knowledge beyond reality, link concepts beyond boundaries, and develop immersive collaborative edu-metaverses for navigating and sharing mind maps. The project also aims to expand academic knowledge for the future of immersive experiential learning.

Title: "An Overview of High Performance Computing and Future Requirements"
Speaker: Prof. Jack Dongarra, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, The University of Tennessee
Abstract: In this talk, we examine how high performance computing has changed over the last ten years and look toward the future in terms of trends. These changes have had and will continue to impact our numerical scientific software significantly. A new generation of software libraries and algorithms are needed for the effective and reliable use of (wide area) dynamic, distributed, and parallel environments. Some of the software and algorithm challenges have already been encountered, such as the management of communication and memory hierarchies through a combination of compile-time and run-time techniques, but the increased scale of computation, depth of memory hierarchies, range of latencies, and increased run-time environment variability will make these problems much harder.
